There are no lock-in contracts on Basic and Scale plans, and you can downgrade at any billing cycle end.

What happens if I exceed my daily API limit?

When you hit your daily limit, the API returns an HTTP 402 error. Your requests will be blocked until limits reset at midnight UTC. To avoid disruption, monitor the X-RateLimit-Remaining header in API responses and implement graceful error handling in your app. If you're consistently reaching 80%+ of your limits, consider upgrading to a higher plan. Enterprise customers can discuss custom overage handling options.

Does Musixmatch provide App Store license certification?

Yes. Apple's App Store Review Guidelines (Section 5.2) require developers to prove they have legal rights to display third-party content like lyrics. Musixmatch provides official license confirmation letters for developers using our API.

What's the difference between 'Lyrics API calls' and 'Total API calls'?"

Musixmatch uses two separate limits. Total API calls (5.000/day on Basic, 20.000/day on Scale) cover all requests including searches, metadata, and artist info. Lyrics API calls (500/day on Basic, 2.000/day on Scale) are a subset that specifically count requests returning lyrics content, such as track.lyrics.get and matcher.lyrics.get endpoints. This dual system lets you make many metadata queries while protecting licensed lyrics content. Both limits reset daily at midnight UTC.

Can I cache or store lyrics locally on Basic or Scale plans?

No. Caching or storing lyrics data is not permitted on Basic and Scale plans due to licensing requirements with music publishers. Lyrics must be fetched in real-time via API calls. Musixmatch conducts regular compliance audits, and violations may result in service suspension. If you need caching capabilities for your application, contact us about our Enterprise plan which includes approved caching rights for specific use cases.
